Proverbs 3:13-18 Those who find wisdom are fortunate; they will be blessed when they gain understanding. Profit that comes from wisdom is better than silver and even the finest gold. Wisdom is worth more than fine jewels. Nothing you desire has more value. With her right hand, Wisdom offers long life—with the other hand, riches and honour. Wisdom will lead you to a life of joy and peace. Wisdom is like a life-giving tree to those who hold on to her; she is a blessing to those who keep her close.

Do you remember being young and stupid? I certainly do; the things I did back in my earlier years! If only we could turn the clock back and put an old head on those young shoulders.

It’s been said that one of life’s great tragedies is that we get old too soon and wise too late. Ain’t that the truth! Wisdom, if it comes at all, tends to come with long years of having your rough edges knocked off by the rough and tumble of life.

But what if we could have early onset wisdom? What would it be like if we were to wise up earlier than those around us? How would your life play out differently, do you think, with early onset wisdom?

This is what wise old King Solomon had to say on the subject to his young sons:

Proverbs 3:13-18 Those who find wisdom are fortunate; they will be blessed when they gain understanding. Profit that comes from wisdom is better than silver and even the finest gold. Wisdom is worth more than fine jewels. Nothing you desire has more value. With her right hand, Wisdom offers long life—with the other hand, riches and honour. Wisdom will lead you to a life of joy and peace. Wisdom is like a life-giving tree to those who hold on to her; she is a blessing to those who keep her close.

What an incredible difference God’s wisdom can make to our lives. Indeed, the blessings of His wisdom are incalculable. So do yourself a favour. Wise up early, because wisdom is a blessing to those who keep her close!

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
