Have you ever come to the conclusion that because God loves you so much, this one little verse in the Bible …. well, it doesn’t really apply to you? If you have, then I’m here to tell you that you’re dead wrong.

We’ve all done it. There’s this one particular sin that just seems to be part of who we are – so deeply embedded in our makeup that we’ll never be rid of it. So we decide that through His love, God will give us a little nudge and a wink – a special dispensation, if you will.

So we get on with life, realising that actually, we’re a bit smarter than those guys who wrote the Bible in times of old. After all, things have changed. The world’s moved on. The sitcom I watch on my streaming service last night has people hopping in and out of bed with each other, so it must be okay.

Let me be plain and direct with you here. You and I, we’re not smarter than God. We don’t get to write our own rules. Evil is what God says is evil.

Proverbs 3:7,8 Don’t trust in your own wisdom, but fear and respect the LORD and stay away from evil. If you do this, it will be like a refreshing drink and medicine for your body.

Sin is sin. It always has been, and it always will be. And despite the malleable morals, the moving morals that our society shoves down our throats as being acceptable these days, evil always has its consequences. So stay away from it.

Let’s not imagine that we’re smarter than God. Because when we fear and respect Him – when we stay away from evil – the blessings that flow from that will be like a refreshing drink and medicine for our souls.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
